The Miami Lakes Inn & Golf Club began construction in 1961 and was designed by Bill Watts Jr. The Miami Lakes Inn & Golf Club opened in 1962.
In 1992, the Miami Lakes Inn & Golf Club was re-named Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club as a special recognition of Coach Don Shula’s contribution to the community of Miami Lakes.
The Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club was updated by Kipp Schulties in 1998.
Due to the effects of Hurricane Wilma, the Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club underwent a $2M renovation and was renamed the Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club - Senator Course, in honor of former Senator Bob Graham.
The Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club - Senator Course had another major renovation in 2013.
