Carl Fisher started construction of his 4th golf course on Miami Beach in May, 1923.
During the construction phase it was referred to as the Number 4 golf course, the King Cole golf course or the Nautilus golf course.
La Gorce Country Club opened on January 7, 1927 and was designed by Herbert Charles Tippet.
In 1969, a redesign of La Gorce Country Club was done by Robert Trent Jones.
In 1995, Jack Nicklaus performed a redesign of the La Gorce Country Club.
