The visionary of the Aventura Country Club - South Course was Donald Soffer, 1967.
The Aventura Country Club - South Course opened in 1971 and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Rees Jones with a layout of 18 holes, par 72, 7003 yards.
In 1980, it was renamed to: Turnberry Isle Resort & Country Club - South Course.
In 2004, it was renamed to: Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club - South Course.
The course underwent a Raymond Floyd renovation and re-opened in December 2006 with a layout of 18 holes, par 71, 7047 yards and was renamed to: Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club - Soffer Course.
In 2011, it was renamed to: Turnberry Isle Miami - Soffer Course.
