South Side Golf Course Notes
The South Side Golf Course opened on December 1, 1920 and was built by the City of Fort Lauderdale with 9 holes playing about 2800 yards.
President-elect Warren Harding played the golf course in 1921, putting Fort Lauderdale on the national map.
The hurricane of 1926 turned the golf course into a sand-blown prairie.
In 1929, the South Side Golf Course was removed by City officials for the construction of the Fort Lauderdale airport.
