Grande Oaks Golf Club Notes
The Rolling Hills Golf Course opened in December, 1960 and was designed by William Mitchell.

By 1962, it added a hotel, and was known as the Rolling Hills Golf Lodge & CC [EBay.com]:
In 1979, the Rolling Hills Golf Course became a landmark when it was used as Bushwood Country Club in the movie Caddyshack [FilmPosters.com]:
In the same year, Rolling Hills Golf and Country Club started construction to expand to 27 holes.
Caddyshack came out in 1980 and according to the Orlando Sentinel, May 7, 2000: "Rolling Hills became to golf fanatics what Graceland is to Elvis freaks. Yearly play went from 25,000 rounds to 90,000."
However, good fortune did not last long, as the golf course went into foreclosure in the late 1980s and was purchased by Japanese investors in 1990.
In 1998, Wayne Huizenga purchased Rolling Hills Golf and Country Club and many changes were instituted:
- Jim Applegate was the golf course renovation architect and Raymond Floyd consulted.
- The 27-hole golf course was returned to 18 holes using the footprint of the original 18.
- The 3rd set of 9 holes was turned into a practice facility on the northern section.
- The 3rd set of 9 holes was turned into a new 9-hole par 3 course on the south side.
- When the golf course was unveiled in April 1999, it was called Grande Oaks Golf Club.
By 2003, the small lodge picture above in 1963, became a 215 room hotel called the The Best Western Rolling Hills Resort (Which was separate from the golf course).
